The Tikhon-Grafton Fellowship of Nashotah House Theological Seminary is happy to host its first ever Eastern Liturgical Music Workshop!!
On December 1st through December 4th, Nashotah House will host the eminent American Orthodox composer, Dr. Richard Toensing. As a convert from Lutheranism, Dr. Toensing has an intimate understanding of both Western worship styles and Eastern traditions. Exemplifying this model capacity for mutual musical adaptation, Dr. Toensing has written a number of Orthodox Christmas carols, many of which are featured on albums produced by Cappela Romana.
The pinnacle of this event will come as Dr. Toensing leads participants through an “instructed Divine Liturgy.” This workshop will be designed to give workshop participants a basic familiarity with the contents and musical idiom of Orthodox Divine Liturgy and it will also to help all those involved to
gain a sense of how one might enrich worship as Anglicans by drawing from these Eastern traditions.
